Seriously – keep off the grass!

I think they mean it! Do you think they have actually heard all these excuses? Or do they just have teenagers in the house and are used to arguing?
Pool Time
by Sue on Jun.21, 2011, under Fun Stuff, Life
When it gets so hot that your legs stick to the car seat on the drive home, you know its pool time. That’s the best thing bout living in an apartment or a condo – you have a pool waiting for you every night and on the weekends. I spend so much time at the pool that I had to buy a third bathing suit – and it was worth it.
On a Desert Highway
by Sue on Jun.14, 2011, under Fun Stuff, Life, Music
Actually it was a dark, desert highway that begins the lyrics for the hit classic by the Eagles, “Hotel California.”
While listening to it, the next part makes sense, “cool wind in my hair.” But then the line, “warm smell of colitas . . .” and now I’m realizing I have no idea what are colitas?
So I looked it up, and it is a Mexican word that means “little tail,” which makes no sense. So, digging deeper, I finally found out that colitas is Mexican slang for pot, specifically the plant buds. So now I’ve been educated today.
Holidays are Needed
by Sue on May.27, 2011, under Fun Stuff, Life
The best of every month is payday. But the second best part is the holiday. Every month has at least one holiday that we either celebrate with family and friends or that means a day off work. All the months except August.
I wish there was a holiday in August – any reason at all would mean a day off from work and extra time to hang out at the beach or at least the pool.
My Niece’s Writings
by Sue on Sep.25, 2010, under Fun Stuff, Life
I have a real good tight relationship with my kid sister’s daughter, Macina. She is 18 years old and wants to be a writer. She had a dream the other night that she couldn’t shake and ended up writing it down and she sent me a copy of it. I’m so tickled to see her creative writing ability that I had to share it here.
“I Was Carrying Something On My Way Back To The Mountain, As I Saw Two Men High Up On The Mountain Beating On A Newborn Amethyst Baby Dragon That Had Just Hatched From Its Egg Not Long Before. So I Dropped Whatever It Was That I Was Carrying And Headed Towards Them As Fast As I Could And Once I Got There I Kicked Them Out Of The Way And They Ended Up Crashing Into A Boulder, Dead. Then The Amethyst Baby Dragon, While In Incredible Pain, Tried To Stand Up As If Nothing Had Happened. Tears Started To Flow Out Through My Eyes, But Before They Could, The Baby Dragon Fell To Ground, Unable To Move. I Rushed Over As Fast I Could And Tried My Absolute Best To Heal The Amethyst Baby Dragon. Yet It Was Too Late, There Was Nothing That I Could’ve Done Now, For The Baby Dragon Had Died. I Held The Amethyst Baby Dragon In My Arms, Crying Uncontrollably. And Once Night Fell, I Still Couldn’t Stop Crying, But I Was Able To Dig A Grave For The Baby Dragon, A Worthy Grave, A Grave So Great That It Was Worthy Of Being A Dragons Grave. I Still Couldn’t Stop Crying Though, For The Sadness And Pain Was Too Much, Many Large Puddles Of Water Were Made From My Tears. And Once I Was Finally Able To Move On, I Left, And I Took The Amethyst Baby Dragons Egg With Me, To Remind Me Of That Fateful Day. To Keep The Memory Of The Amethyst Baby Dragon Alive.”
